Operation Whiskey Unison Marks One Year with 1,232 Gold Coast Arrests
Focused on tackling youth crime through community engagement and intelligence-driven patrols, the operation has contributed to a total of 11,023 arrests on 17,791 charges statewide.
There have been 4,149 juvenile arrests accounting for 7,551 charges. Proactive activities include 44,298 in the Gold Coast district and 160,406 state-wide, covering hotspot patrols, business walkthroughs, bail compliance checks, community engagements, and service station drop-ins.
The operation strategically targets various youth crime locations, emphasising its commitment to public safety.
The hands-on approach of this operation provides increased chances for officers and Police Liaison Officers (PLOs) to carry out bail checks and interact with young individuals.
According to Youth Crime Acting Assistant Commissioner Andrew Massingham, this additional on-the-ground support has played a crucial role in assisting officers statewide over the last 12 months.
