The 30th Toowoomba Mayoral Prayer Breakfast, set to take place at Rumours International on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 6 a.m., will raise funds for a new initiative by Safer Toowoomba Regional Partnerships Inc. (STRP).
This program aims to strengthen neighbourhood connections and foster a safer community atmosphere in the Toowoomba region.
The event is expected to bring together local leaders and residents in a collaborative effort to support STRP’s mission.
Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald announced that STRP is organising a series of Community Connect events to help residents get to know their neighbours and build stronger community bonds.
STRP executive committee member Lindsay Hornery, Acting District Manager of Toowoomba Community Corrections at Queensland Corrective Services, expressed the group’s excitement at being selected as the beneficiary for this year’s Toowoomba Mayoral Prayer Breakfast.
The Toowoomba Mayoral Prayer Breakfast will feature guest speaker Cameron Butler, a global sports chaplain from Melbourne.
Mr. Butler spent over 15 years as the Melbourne Australian Football Club chaplain before becoming CEO of Sports and Leisure Ministries (SLM).
Under his leadership, the organisation grew to over 800 members and formed partnerships with major Australian sports leagues.
After SLM became Sports Chaplaincy Australia, Mr. Butler played a key role in expanding sports chaplaincy worldwide, training thousands of chaplains in Asia, the UK, and the US.
