The 65th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), held from October 30 to November 3, 2024, welcomed its largest-ever Australian contingent to the renowned event on Florida’s southeast coast.
Recognised as the world’s premier in-water boat show, FLIBS has been a major industry showcase since its founding in 1959, displaying some of the world’s largest superyachts across more than three million square feet of exhibition space, attracting over 100,000 visitors worldwide.
In a significant collaboration, Superyacht Australia (SYA) and the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) partnered with Tourism Fiji and Tahiti Tourisme to highlight the South Pacific’s marine sector.
Exhibitors showcased Australia’s offerings in marine tourism, cutting-edge technology, and cruising opportunities, with the Australian delegation—including notable organisations like Riviera, Southport Yacht Club, and Maritimo—demonstrating the region’s capabilities on the global stage.
Australia’s Gold Coast took a leading role by organising a Trade Mission to the show and participating as a Silver Sponsor for the International Superyacht Society (ISS) Awards Night.
Gold Coast companies displayed products and services, strengthening the business ties fostered by the Sister City relationship with Fort Lauderdale.
The event featured impressive highlights, including Riviera’s launch of its 6000th vessel, witnessed by Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis. SYA further solidified its relationship with the U.S. Superyacht Association (USSA) as David Good, CEO of SYA, was honoured with the inaugural International Industry Partner Award for his contributions to the superyacht industry.
The show concluded with networking events and the popular South Pacific Superyachting Stand Networking Drinks, celebrating Australian wines and further cementing the collaboration between the regions.
