The Crisafulli Government has secured critical school funding for 2025, providing certainty for Queensland’s state and non-state schools.
The Interim School Funding Agreement 2025 and associated Bilateral Agreement will ensure continued Commonwealth and state contributions to the Schooling Resource Standard (SRS). The Commonwealth will maintain its 20% share for state schools under the interim deal, while negotiations for a long-term funding arrangement continue.
The agreements were necessary after the previous government failed to secure a new funding deal, leaving schools at risk of losing federal funding when the current agreement expires on 31 December 2024.
Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek criticised the former government’s inaction.
“The former government had nine months to deliver a funding deal and failed. It’s deeply concerning how close Queensland schools came to losing Commonwealth funding,” Minister Langbroek said.
“Queensland schools and students deserve better. The Crisafulli Government will fight to secure a fairer long-term deal that lifts the Commonwealth share to 25% of the SRS for state schools.”
The interim agreement guarantees funding stability for 2025 while the government works toward a better, long-term solution.
