Sunshine Coast, Feb. 27, 2024 – A man in his 60s tragically drowned after being caught in a rip current at Marcoola Beach. Despite rescue attempts, the force of the current proved fatal.
The man’s 22-year-old daughter was also trapped in the rip but was successfully pulled to safety around 3 pm.
Emergency services swiftly transported her to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where she is now in stable condition.
Local authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident while providing support to the grieving family.
