Queensland-based Graphene Manufacturing Group (GMG) takes a major step towards commercial production of their innovative batteries in the clean technology sector.
GMG Project and QLD Grant
The Queensland government recently awarded the company a substantial $2 million grant to establish an automated assembly line for their eagerly awaited graphene aluminium-ion batteries in Brisbane.
Graphene Manufacturing Group Innovation
GMG’s groundbreaking production method, which separates methane into graphene, hydrogen, and other gases, offers a cost-effective, scalable, and eco-friendly approach to graphene production with minimal contaminants.
The company’s innovation has garnered attention, with a financial endorsement from the Critical Minerals and Battery Technology Fund (CMBTF), earmarked for a pilot plant expected to cover half of the plant’s capital cost.
The facility will be situated within GMG’s existing premises in Richlands, a suburb of Brisbane.
The investment from the CMBTF aligns with Queensland’s strategic drive to lead in battery technology and critical mineral processing, aiming to bolster the state’s economy significantly by 2030 through substantial financial commitments.
