Northern beaches residents are encouraged to join Townsville City Council’s community tree planting day this coming Tuesday.
Townsville Tree Planting program
The community event is scheduled to commence at 9 am at Toolakea Esplanade. A Council spokesperson highlighted that the initiative aims to re-vegetate the old carpark area, serving to deter coastal erosion while fostering a habitat for native wildlife.
They plan to plant over 500 native trees, shrubs, and coastal vines to enhance the local environment.
Community tree planting days contribute significantly to environmental preservation while instilling a sense of pride in the locality and enriching our surroundings.
The Council will provide needed planting equipment and approximately 500 native plants suited to combat coastal erosion in the region.
These coastal species, meticulously selected for their suitability, have been propagated at the Council’s Native Plant Nursery.
