Redland City Council’s Civic Support Fund is continuing to provide crucial relief to residents grappling with the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
Civic Support Fund Aid to Redland Residents
Established as a $500,000 one-off fund, it aims to support community organisations on the Redlands Coast by offering financial assistance to those working on the frontlines.
With just a month remaining before applications close for the 2023-24 financial year, ten recipients have already been granted funds to aid the city’s most vulnerable residents.
Mayor Jos Mitchell emphasised the significance of this initiative, stating, “Cost-of-living pressures continue to have financial and material impacts on families and individuals across Redlands Coast.
The Civic Support Fund aims to get funding to the grass-roots organisations who are working so hard to help those who are in desperate need.”
The successful recipients include:
- Wesley Mission Queensland: Headspace Capalaba is using funds to provide grocery vouchers for young people accessing their community-based health services.
- Minjerribah Moorgumpin Aboriginal Corporation: The Minjerribah Community Wellness Project supports First Nations families facing heightened living costs.
- STAR Community Services: Brunch With Friends offers in-person contact and nutritious food to combat elderly social isolation.
- Redlands Community Centre Inc: The Uniform Access project helps families afford school uniforms, enhancing students’ social inclusion and self-esteem.
- Queensland Injectors Health Network: Strengthening Connections in Cost of Living Crisis offers emergency support through food, clothing, and transport vouchers.
- Centre Against Sexual Violence: Provides counselling and support groups for sexual assault survivors who might otherwise forgo these services due to financial pressures.
- Horizon Foundation Inc: Setting up two community pantries to support their disability social enterprise employees and participants at their Alexandra Hills hub.
- Anglicare Southern Queensland: Community Pantry project addressing food insecurity with regular food parcel distributions.
- Ancient Paths LTD: Community Rehoming Essentials and Food Relief supplies household items and food vouchers to vulnerable residents.
