A special commemorative service will be held at Spring Bluff station on Sunday, March 17, 2024, to honour the 1000 courageous soldiers who embarked on their journey to serve in World War II.
Commemorative Service for the Darling Downs’ 25th Infantry Battalion
This Sunday’s service commemorates the 82nd anniversary of this memorable day when the 25th Infantry Battalion of Darling Downs boarded trains from Spring Bluff station, starting their journey to New Guinea.
This event holds historical significance for the Toowoomba Region, and the service will pay tribute to this historic moment.
Over 200 soldiers of the 1000 who departed from the station that day never returned from the battles at Milne Bay and Bougainville.
This serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made years before us in shaping our future.
The Toowoomba Region boasts a rich history, emphasising the importance of remembering and honouring the pivotal events that shaped Australia.
The service is open to the public. Please note that pets are not permitted at the station. The event will start at 2 pm on that day.
