To mark the start of May’s Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) will stand side by side with the community in solidarity against domestic violence.
The annual initiative, designed to raise awareness about domestic and family violence, will kick off with the Domestic and Family Violence Remembrance Day March and Candle Lighting Ceremony this Wednesday, May 1, in Toowoomba’s CBD.
Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald encouraged residents to join the march and participate in various events throughout May to support Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.
“I look forward to joining my fellow Councillors and the community for the Domestic and Family Violence Remembrance Day March and Candle Lighting Ceremony this week where we will come together to send a powerful message of support, hope and resilience to those affected.”– Mayor Geoff McDonald
TRC also encouraged the community to participate in the Red Bench Project throughout May to boost awareness for the cause.
