The Reading to Pets program makes a much-anticipated return at Townsville City Council’s Animal Care and Adoption Centre, inviting children to read to shelter pets awaiting their forever homes.
The program boosts children’s reading confidence but also provides shelter animals at the Animal Care and Adoption Centre with the love and attention they crave during the reading sessions.
There will be two sessions and it will run from 11 am to midday on Tuesday 9 April and Wednesday 10 April.
According to a Townsville Council spokesperson, Reading to Pets serves as an excellent avenue for young individuals to develop new friendships while enhancing their literacy abilities.
