Townsville City Council enhances service efficiency by adding six new building application types to its same-day approvals service, ensuring expedited processes for residents.
Toowoomba’s Additional 6 Same-day Approval Services
The six additional application types that now qualify for same-day approvals are:
- Reduced Front Setback for Dwellings
- Shade Sails within Front Setback
- Property Site Cover up to 60 per cent
- Building/Structure Eaves within Setbacks
- Screens, Fences, Walls, and Retaining Walls up to 2.2m in Height
- Residential Structures within Side Setbacks
This improvement aims to streamline the process for homeowners, builders, and building certifiers within the Townsville community.
It will allow applicants to submit and receive approvals on the same day, the Council is simplifying the often time-consuming process of obtaining building permits.
Townsville stands out as the first council in Queensland to implement such a rapid approval system.
A Council spokesperson highlighted the significance of this initiative, emphasising its potential to spur growth within Townsville by reducing the approval turnaround time from an average of 10 days to less than 24 hours.
The Council aims to provide a competitive advantage for homeowners and builders seeking to undertake residential construction projects.
This proactive approach underscores the Council’s dedication to customer satisfaction and positions Townsville at the forefront of service innovation among Queensland councils.
