Under the ongoing 2022 Flood Recovery Program, Toowoomba Regional Council increased efforts on flood-related sealed pavement repairs throughout the region.
Increased Focus on Pavement Repairs at Toowoomba
Over 420 sealed roads will undergo repair, with Georgiou Group and Golding Contractors overseeing projects in the north and south, respectively, alongside the Council’s Construction and Maintenance teams.
TRC’s General Manager of Infrastructure Services, Mike Brady, explained that the works encompass pavement and road base repairs, involving stabilising existing material, excavation, and removal of damaged sections, followed by the application of new pavement material.
The sealed road repairs under the Flood Recovery Program specifically target damage resulting directly from the declared 2022 flood events.
For any other sealed road damage or maintenance needs, Toowoomba Regional Council will follow its established construction and maintenance programs.
The extensive repair work under the 2022 Flood Recovery Program is expected to exceed $250 million.
Funding assistance is secured through the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
Completion of the Flood Recovery Program works is expected by the end of 2024.
