Construction began on the first stage of Greenheart, a 22.5-hectare park on Stadium Drive, Robina last May 2023.

This significant parkland development is a major project for the Council, marking the first of its scale in several years, and aims to provide a premier recreation area for the Gold Coast community.

Initial works include site investigations and preparation, with construction fencing and vehicles active on-site.

Last January 8, construction for new footpaths started at the northern part of the site, with completion expected by September 30, 2024.

Features of Greenheart Stage 1

Greenheart Stage 1 will include:

  • Café and Amenities: A café with a separate amenities building, featuring a Changing Places facility with an accessible toilet and changing equipment.
  • Yoga Lawn: A dedicated space for yoga, active and healthy activities, and informal recreation.
  • Children’s Play Area: A fully fenced space for toddlers and primary school-aged children with custom-designed play towers near the café.
  • Water Play Area: Featuring water pumps, and opportunities for imaginative play such as leaf boat racing, dam building, and sand play.
  • Picnic and Barbecue Areas: Barbecues, picnic tables, and shelters near the adventure play area.
  • Events Lawn and Stage: A flexible space suitable for large community events, food trucks, and ticketed events.
  • Ball Sports Area: For informal kickabout games.
  • Outdoor Gym: Suitable for people of different ages and abilities.
  • Scooter and Bike Track: A dedicated track for scooters and bikes.
  • Dog Off-Leash Area: A fenced area with agility equipment, seating, and shade trees.
  • Parking and Transport: Car parking and a bus set-down area.

Additional features include an extensive footpath network, path lighting, park furniture, shade structures, feature landscape areas, and tree planting.

The design retains the existing sports fields, riparian planting, and wetland area.

The City of Gold Coast has developed the Greenheart Master Plan, which outlines eight unique precincts featuring diverse open space and recreational facilities.
