TOWNSVILLE — A 46-year-old man was fatally shot by officers at the Kirwan Police Station in Townsville on Saturday night. According to a police statement, the man, identified as a resident of Cranbrook, arrived at the station around 10 p.m. and allegedly threatened officers with a knife.
Details about the number of shots fired have not been disclosed.
Despite receiving first aid from officers, the man was pronounced dead a short time later.
An ethical standards investigation into the incident is underway. Police are expected to provide further details on Sunday.
