Renewable energy and solar industry entrepreneurs Damon Rahmate and Andrew Davey are taking their environmental mission to the seas through a new startup venture.
They aim to introduce Australia’s premier high-performance electric motor yacht, marking a significant stride in sustainable innovation within maritime transportation.
Genevo Marine & Mahi Boats Partner for Electric Yacht
The EV start-up Genevo Marine has partnered with Gold Coast’s Mahi Boats to build their debut model, the 8.2-meter luxury motor yacht dubbed the E8.
Additionally, the company is going into establishing a charging network for its electric boats, bolstering the growing EV revolution at sea.
Genevo Marine foresees the E8, designed by acclaimed superyacht designer Misha Merzliakov, to be priced at around $480,000, similar to conventional petrol sports boats of the same dimensions.
The company is currently undertaking a seed investment round to fast-track construction of its prototype which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Damon Rahmate talked to Business News Australia and he disclosed their company also intends to bolster the sustainability of the boat construction industry by implementing a proprietary recycled composite, currently under development with the assistance of Deakin University in Melbourne.
Rahmate also noted that Genevo Marine will stand out by serving as both its hardware service partner and installer. More about this “green” news as it develops.
