Toowoomba Regional Council and the selected design and construction contractor team up for a project enhancing dam safety at Cressbrook Dam.
What is the Cressbrook Dam Safety Upgrade
The Cressbrook Dam Safety Enhancement Initiative involves expanding the dam spillway to bolster flood resilience, safeguarding downstream landholders in the Somerset Regional Council area, including Toogoolawah along Cressbrook Creek.
This project is mandated by the guidelines of the Queensland Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing, and Water, emphasizing acceptable flood capacity modelling within an ALARP risk-based framework.
Marking a significant milestone, it stands as the most extensive dam safety improvement initiative ever undertaken by a Queensland local government, with an estimated cost of around $270 million.
construction is scheduled for early 2024, with a targeted completion deadline set for October 2025.
