The iconic Kirra Sports Club on the Gold Coast, once a bustling social hub, is now being razed after months of attempts to secure a new tenant proved unsuccessful.
Gold Coast City Council decided to demolish the deteriorating building, citing its unsafe condition.
Known for its warm atmosphere, the club was a beloved gathering place, offering pub-style meals and lively open mic nights.
The decision to demolish marks the end of an era for the Kirra community, where the club had long served as a focal point of local culture.
After the site is cleared, the area will be turfed, and council discussions are underway with junior and senior sports clubs to explore future community uses for the space.
