Gold Coast, QLD – Fire crews have been working tirelessly throughout the morning to extinguish a significant blaze on a 50-foot yacht anchored off the coast of Biggera Waters.
The vessel was found engulfed in flames approximately 70 meters offshore around 3 a.m. on Monday.
Responding to the emergency, two fire crews arrived swiftly and began efforts to douse the inferno from a nearby rescue boat.
According to reports, the yacht was vacant at the time of the incident, and fortunately, no injuries reported were reported.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are currently underway to determine the origin of the blaze.
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) has confirmed that the situation has now been handed over to the Gold Coast Water Police for further investigation.
“Investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire,” a QFES spokesperson said. “The situation is now under the jurisdiction of the Gold Coast Water Police.”
The incident has raised concerns about marine safety in the area, and authorities are urging boat owners to ensure all safety protocols are in place to prevent similar occurrences.
