Redlands Coast, QLD — Community organisations in the Redlands Coast area are invited to apply for funding from Redland City Council to support events during Queensland Seniors Month in October.
Mayor Jos Mitchell announced that this is the fourth consecutive year the Council has provided the Seniors Month Funding Program.
“Seniors Month is a great opportunity to celebrate the older residents in our community,” she said.
This year’s theme, “Love getting older in Queensland,” reflects the goals of the Council’s Redlands Coast Age-Friendly Action Plan 2021-2026.
The plan aims to ensure ageing is a positive experience, promoting active, fulfilling lives and community participation for senior residents. “Bringing our older residents together helps them to create and maintain connections and friends, reducing loneliness and isolation,” Mitchell added.
The funding program, which supports activities that engage and benefit older adults, is a key part of the Age-friendly Action Plan.
Grants of up to $2000 are available to community organisations for initiatives ranging from active to more relaxed activities, accommodating both mobile seniors and those with limited opportunities to leave home.
Applications for funding close at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024.
