After 16 years of operation, the beloved ‘The Village Markets’ at Burleigh Heads State School has announced its sudden closure.
Marissa Bowden and Sarah Schoeller, the founders, broke the news on social media, attributing the closure to a combination of factors including the pandemic, inclement weather, and the construction of Stage 3 of the light-rail.
In a statement, they expressed the challenges faced by their small business due to these circumstances and announced a shift to an online platform.
However, they assured supporters that the market will still make appearances through pop-up events at Robina Town Centre and pre-loved rack sale events along the coast.
While bidding farewell to their loyal community, Bowden and Schoeller hinted at forthcoming developments, promising a new and exciting chapter ahead.
“We have grown both personally and professionally alongside The Village Markets and we look forward to a new and exciting chapter (more in this space soon),” they said, expressing gratitude for the immense support received over the past 16 years.
‘The Village Markets’ is a bi-monthly pop-up market featuring jewellery, fashions & craft stalls from small-time entrepreneurs at 1750 Gold Coast Hwy, Burleigh Heads QLD.
