Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre (MECC) last week announced the extension of closure for its Auditorium, North Foyer, and Lynette Denny Space until August 31.
According to Janine McKay, the Council’s Community Services Director, the extended closure is attributed to delays in securing contractors for extensive remediation works.
The initial closure was brought about by significant water damage and air-conditioning failure caused by heavy storms over the last Christmas period.
Efforts to relocate events to the Convention Centre are underway, but some shows may be cancelled due to logistical constraints.
MECC staff will contact affected clients with options for refunds or alternative arrangements.
